Reading Food Labels

Reading food labels while shopping is important. It helps you avoid unwanted fats and allows you to make healthier choices

How to Use Food Labels While Shopping

When you go shopping, your first stop should be at the colorful aisle. It is stocked with wonderful seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Stock Up with Fresh Fruit & Vegetables

Shop the produce section. Choose a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables – these are naturally low in fat and sodium, and rich in cholesterol-lowering fiber. You can also choose frozen fruits and vegetables to have as a stand-by when you simply need something quick.  If you buy ‘simple’ frozen vegetables without any sauces, it is a better choice than cans because they eliminate salt, which is a must to control blood pressure and manage heart disease.
