Today, most of us are in self-isolation and that can feel pretty lonely. So I wanted to give you some ideas to make the weekends, weeknights and weekdays more fun for you. Here are 18 ideas that I shared with my group last week. They loved them and have told me that life is feeling less lonely when they put at least one or two in practice every day. Keep in mind that you might have to be the one to make the effort to make it happen. I promise it will be well worth it.
18 Ways to Stop Feeling Lonely
Virtually connect with your family 1-2 times a week. Get a Zoom or Skype account. Both are free or use FaceTime or Google Duo.
2) Happy Hours
Schedule virtual happy hour calls with friends to catch up.
3) House Party!
If you like to play games, download an app called House Party.
There are a lot of classes, plays, and even theater you can get online. Google them. Many are free.
5) Get Outside

Get help from a therapist if you can’t beat the blues you might be feeling. Many are counseling virtually every day with their clients.
8) News Detox
Read less news. It can feel depressing, and truthfully, not much changes from day-to-day.
Reach out to people you haven’t talked with in eons and reconnect. Right now, people are actually more connected than they have ever been. It just takes effort.
Go online and virtually date using FT, Zoom, or Google Duo calls. You’ll laugh and get yourself around others’ energy. You could make some really nice friends.
Do a daily gratitude journal of all the things you are grateful for now. It opens your heart to love in the future.
12) Read Fluff
Read some fluff books. I love this series I’ve been reading by Wendy Wax called Ten Beach Road Series. I download them from the library and read them on a Kindle app.
13) Read Spiritual Content
Read some good spiritual books that make you feel good. Hay House has some amazing ones.
Some of my favorites are You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, Living with Joy by Sanaya Roman, Power versus Force and Letting Go by David Hawkins, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy (this is one of my favorites and is a huge mental, emotional and spiritual game-changer).
14) Make a List
Make a list of things you love to do and schedule one every day.
15) Get Ready
Put on Makeup and real clothes every couple of days. It will make you feel good.
This is a great time to declutter your home. I’ve straightened out tons of drawers and under sink cabinets. It’s fun. To get started, set a timer for 10 minutes and see how much you get done. It can feel really satisfying.
17) Get Creative
Get creative. Do adult coloring books. Some pottery places have take-home projects. Take a virtual drawing class or Zentangle class. There are even virtual watercolor or acrylic classes and anything you need, you can get on Amazon or at an art supply store that ships.
18) Vision Board
Create a Vision Board. If you don’t have magazines, use Pinterest to print photos you like. I’ve done lots of Vision Boards over the years and have been amazed at how much really comes true.
